We're the second oldest local on our campus (NYU), and we've been struggling with membership for a while now... (Our last class over 2 people was my big's in fall '04, which had 5... since then it's been 2 (both graduated), 1 (our president), 1 (me), 2(our last class this past spring.)

BUT this fall we switched over to formal rush (I was recruitment chair) and we got 4 girls from recruitment, (which is usually impossible for us), snapped another girl, then COBed 2 more. Sadly a girl I really liked from our original 4 dropped due to worrying about her school work, but we still have 6 excited girls, 4 freshmen and 2 sophomores.

Now I'm just worried about making sure no one else drops! No one in the sorority is really into cute stuff like decorating bid cards, bid glasses, picture frames, etc. except for me... I LOVE that stuff and it might be lame, but I think it really endears girls to the sorority and keeps them into it even when they're stressed with school/work/etc. SO, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or ideas for me? What kinds of cute non ritual things do you do for you new girls? ANY idea is welcome!!

Congrats on everyone's recruitment!!! It seems it was a good fall for locals!

Thanks!! Our pledge ribbons are our colors on a pin - sort of like the breast cancer ribbons but with 3 colors (hot pink, silver, light pink).

How do you post pics on here? I have a group photo of our Alpha girls wearing the ribbons...

I'm not sure how to post pics...every time I try, it doesn't work
On the quick reply toolbar, there is an "insert picture" button..did you try that?
What do your sister pins look like?

XiDelt - You do....

This is our first semester, so we do not have pins for actives (it would cost too much money at the moment). We decided that we're going to use lavaliers unless we can come up with another idea! Any suggestions?

we gave out 10 bids and 7 accepted. we are also having 3 open rush events in hopes of getting at least 3 more new members before the first ritual and start of new member education. we did REALLY well this semester. on our campus there are 8 national and 1 local (us of course) sororities and normally we are no competition for them, but this year after bid day was done and over, i heard some girls saying i can't believe they got "sally" and "suzie" becuase i know that "XYZ" (one of the "big" sororites on campus) gave her a bid and really wanted her. also, the fact that we are very small (we started fall 07 with 10 active members) makes it really unbelievable how many new members we got through structured rush.

And to think I almost talked our girls out of doing structured rush so we could focus on open rush.

As an update, we have 8 awesome girls, I went up there this weekend and met all but 1 of them who had gone away. Like Sigphisunshine, there are 3 national orgs, and we're the only local. We used to be no competition, but the last 2 years we def have, it's great

this is 7 of them btw this is at a "sports" mixer before they started new membering

Congrats to everyone!!!!!
