Question Contact Lens help

Does anyone wear contacts? Especially RGPs (Rigid Gas Permeables)??? My eyes get sooo dry and irritated from wearing them (red sometimes)...my vision is perfect (20/15 I think) with them on, but they're uncomfortable!!

Does anyone have any tips for someone who wears RGPs? (Like, I can't use solution for soft lenses, etc.) ANy opinions are appreciated! Thanks !

Newbie I know you said you are near sighted and have astigmatism - i have the exact same problem. I wear toric lenses and they are great! They are soo easy to put in, you take care of them just like soft contacts, and if you sleep with them in, no biggie! Maybe you should try them... I personally know nothing about RGPs other than my mom couldn't wear them b/c they irritated her eyes too much

Hey nucutiepie!! Hehe, yeah I know you are both nearsighted and astigmatism like me (the post in Veruca's thread about the surgery). You know, the dr. said I can't wear soft lenses , my vision is supposedly too high for them!!! Sad or what??!! Do you wear Focus Torics? Yeah, I have a brochure about them from a while back--and it looks SO comfortable!!!

thanks nucutiepie!

oh, also...whenever I wear my RGPs, if ANYTHING (and I mean anything...dust, wind, etc.) gets in...it's so uncomfortable!! Makes me tear a lot!

Also, sometimes it feels like I'm not wearing anything, sometimes it's so dry that I just want to take them out!

I actually wear Preference Torics. My vision isn't really that bad... I am perhaps 20/80 or 20/90... but because I have astigmatism I can't see a whole lot w/o glasses (which i flat-out refuse to wear) or contacts. I think they actually make the preference ones up to really high prescriptions... I dunno... you could check on 1800contacts.com (obviously you would have to get fitted, etc at the doctor if they do carry your prescription)
