Getting/Building a House

I was wondering if anyone could give me a ball park on how much it would cost to build a house to sleep like 20 brothers with plenty of space for chapter activities. ( Land, House, etc.)

That is such a general question, it cannot be answered without more information.

If you want to build a 8,000 sq/ft house on 2 acres in the middle of North Carolina, maybe $750,00 - $1 million.

If you want to build the same house in Southern California, $5 million - $8 million.

You should go talk to 3-4 general contractors that do light commercial/residential construction in your area. Ask them for a ballpark figure for a project, or cost per sq foot. Take their answers and you would have some kind of rough basis for cost.

Once that is done, you would want to have an attorney look over zoning and real estate issues for putting a house like this somewhere legally, then have an architect paid to draw up plans that can be submitted for a bid. A 20 Bed light commercial property would be at least 7-8 hundred thousand dollars I would think, in addition to the land cost.

sorry for not giving enough info, but it would actually be in the middle of NC Greensboro, NC. I guess I was just trying to get some example cost from houses other chapters have gotten built.

You guys looked into Leasing a place... I would assume there would be more of an opportunity around UNC-G, than up in BFE-Cullowhee...

I drive by our old house atleast once a week...

its sad, not taken care of anymore and there is a family of migrate workers living in the chapter party room...

You know, Georgia Tech did this recently. Perhaps a chat with their Housing Corp would be in order here.

There are houses but not large ones just ones for single families. basically we would have to buy land a few miles a way from campus and build from scratch in order to fit even a third of our chapter in it. We are trying to get back up to into the area of 40-50 men currently. But I was just wondering how much it costs. maybe not 20 but like 15 or so guys would be great too.
