Fraternity/sorority house chapter halls
Does your fraternity or sorority house have a chapter hall?
My daughter attended Williams College where fraternities existed until 1965. Her senior year she resided in the former Alpha Delta Phi house. It had a most impressive chapter room.
Only Alpha Delts were ever admitted. Picture a tall ceiling room approximately 20' x 40' in size with no windows and exquisitely paneled walls and ceiling. Along each wall was a padded bench on which the members sat. Any fraternity ceremony in such a setting would have been a moving experience.
I attended a state university and we did not have these luxuries. I wonder how many of these rooms exist?

I was always amazed when I found out about lodge halls with LXA!
We had them in several places with only maybe the president living there.
But, some have nice halls.

Beta Theta Pi at the University of Nebraska. Don't have a second building, but certainly have a designated chapter room that's under lock and key. Currently only Beta's are allowed to enter (along with the contractor in charge of maitenance).
Back in the early 90's, the band 311 played shows in the room...things were a lot different then.

I know of one Alpha Sig chapter that has a hidden room within the house. If I recall correctly from my pledge education 22 years ago our Alpha Chapter at Yale had a windowless building called the tomb.

I was in your house in 1997, the first year it went dry I believe. I was also in your Chapter room, very impressive.
PS, my roll number is (or was) in your D.R. You know what I'm talking about...
Many of our Beta houses have designated chapter rooms....I'd say about 20-30 of our houses have them....maybe more.

my sorority house at fl.state has a designated chapter room. back in my day, until they were initiated, pledges were not allowed to enter the room, except during ritual ceremonies that could be attended by pledges. however, it certainly isn't near as grand as the williams college alpha delta phis former chapter room sounds. that room does sound awe-inspiring.
