Regarding white wedding gowns: My grandmother wore a white dress (complete with a white parasol) circa 1914. She was a Jewish immigrant and lived in Brooklyn. I have no idea what my mother wore because there were no pictures (my Uncle forgot to take the lens cap off) and she didn't save the dress so I could see it. (Now before you ladies start doing math as to how Ellebud's grandmother could be married in 1912 and I have a teenage daughter...my mother married very late for her generation). So, the white wedding gown was alive and well in Brooklyn at the turn of the century.
Oh, tape will keep those buppies in the strapless dress.
I saw a GORGEOUs blush white wedding gown in the window of Saks recently. Well, the color was gorgeous, perhaps the dress...a bit too much. I have this thing: I believe the dress should showcase the star of the day: the bride. If everyone talks about the dress then it was too much. But that's just me.

Jenny Packham (sad face because I have seen some JP designs that were super cute).

Awwww.
As for the dressings in this thread, there is really something for everyone. What I (and many of us) consider ugly could be a Godsend to someone else. Yikes, but understandable.

Honey, you look like a poodle.
I don't even know what to say about this one...The edges kind of remind me of lettuce.

I think this is kinda cute! I wouldn't wear it as a wedding dress, but as a dress it's cute. I can sort of see it for a winter bride though, going with a very snowy/icy motif...

There are some truly awful designs here: http://jezebel.com/5713859/kate-midd...s-her/gallery/ Some are nice, but some are ... well, like this thing:

Pnina Tornai.. She's made some beautiful dresses, but when she goes out there she goes way out there.

Well, it matches the backdrop. I could see this being worn in a broadway play or in a movie.
